Individual Therapy

Individual Psychotherapy is for people who want to understand and reshape their actions, relationships, reactions, ways of thinking and feeling so they can enjoy a happier, freer, more relaxed and authentic life with less stress. Sometimes we look at letting go of whatever actions or beliefs no longer serve you well. It’s all about personal growth and happiness.

Safety First: You have to feel safe to discuss your concerns honestly and openly without fear of judgment. The goal is to help you make adjustments, healthier choices, implement plans for a positive future and reduce stress to make life truly worth living well. Sometimes it's tough because we are breaking through old stuff; sometimes it's light-hearted and amusing, even fun, because you are making progress and things are changing for the better, but always - it is supportive. I find most people don't have nearly enough support. We often address core beliefs and faulty thinking from the past that causes anxiety to increase, perhaps leading your actions to not match the outcomes you want. Many of these problems become habits that cause much unhappiness because they haven’t been examined and challenged. How does it work? Generally a client, in this area, comes to a professional office for a clinical session that lasts for 45 to 50 minutes. Mine happen to last longer as many of my clients tend to commute to see me, so all my sessions last up to 1 hour and 15 minutes. I don’t want anyone to commute longer than the session lasts. I try to accommodate clients who work and need early evening or weekend appointments. Most of my clients come once a week, a few come twice a week, traveling executives generally come twice a month – until the problem is solved and life is looking the way the you want it to. Sometimes the number of sessions last only for a month, some much longer, some for years. Others call a couple of years later when a new situation is causing them stress and they want to come back briefly for more support and assistance. I refer to this as – "Your therapy, your way". The first meeting with me lasts up to 60 minutes and is always free so we can mutually assess if we should work together. If not, I will offer referrals to other local professionals.
